The Honors Program at Barry is designed to challenge, enrich, and prepare especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. Students are given the space for discussion and debate and the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields. The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of 糖心传媒. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of 糖心传媒 and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami. The extensive Library research collections include more than 950,000 physical items, over 40,000 print and on-line journal subscriptions, and several thousand on-line books and streaming video resources.

We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.

Barry U Alumna Fabienne Josaphat Returns to Campus to Share New Novel

Fabienne Josaphat wrote her first short story in a class with English Professor Andrea Greenbaum. At Dr. Greenbaum鈥檚 invitation, the 2003 Barry U grad returned to campus on Thursday, November 13, 2025, to share her second novel, Kingdom of No Tomorrow. 鈥淚 was once one of you,鈥� she told the students in the English Major, the Honors Program, and the Africana Studies Minor who crowded into Library 308 to learn about Ms. Josaphat鈥檚 commitment to historical fiction.

Her first novel, Dancing in the Baron鈥檚 Shadow (2016) is set in the 1960s and 1970s in Haiti, where Ms. Josaphat was born. 鈥淗aiti is so misunderstood,鈥� she observed. 鈥淭here鈥檚 what the media tells you about Haiti, then there is the Haiti I know.鈥�

For Kingdom of Tomorrow, the author ventured beyond what she knew to write about the Black Panther movement in the United States. She recounted how she interviewed now elderly Black Panthers to make sure she depicted the Panthers鈥� struggle accurately.

Although those struggles are in the past, Ms. Josaphat believes that the Black Panthers continue to serve as a model for community organizing today. Through historical fiction, she finds hope for the future in the past.
